How much fuel does an airliner typically land with?

The reason I ask this I was flying earlier from DFW to LAX in the level-D 767 with roughly 35,000 pounds of fuel on board and as I was landing at LAX I only had 3,700 pounds left is this realistic?

Just about, maybe a little less than you should. You have to factor in a lot of other things, such as your alternative destination (just in case of bad weather, emergency, etc.). You should always put at least 2 hours worth of extra fuel in big aircraft like the 767, and maybe a 1/2 hour-hour's worth of fuel in reigonal aircraft. And in small aircraft, maybe around 15-30 minutes of extra fuel.

2.5 hours extra is too high.

It depends on the kind of flight. Here's an example:
FAR "International Reserves" =
1) enough to fly and land at the destination +
2) to fly for 10% of 1) "contingency" +
3) to fly and land at the most distant alternate airport on the release "alternate" +
4) to fly for 30 minutes at holding speed at 1500 ft. AGL at the alternate airport

There are a lot of variables but an erj 145 would typically land with about 2500 pounds.

Again, it all depends on the aircraft's speed and in-flight cruising altitude. Typically, you would need less fuel if you were crusing at FL410 compared to FL250. Your alternate for that aircraft wouold be San Diego, Los Angeles, San Francisco, or Burbank.

Here at the airline I work for, we land the EMB 145 or CRJ200 with about 2500 lbs left on board.
If anyone has tried to fly the CLE-DFW run with a EMB145LR, this time of year with the jetstream, the flight usually will require 11,200 on the fuel. CAE-IAH with CRJ 200 at FL320 will require 10500lbs, and this is with no alternate
