what the heck is slowing down flight simulator?

Post by cpt nick »

Hey, so when I 1st put my comp together and installed FS9 and my usual addons, i could get 60+ FPS easy with a quality payware plane and fairly decent scenery (no trafficpackage but default traffic set to 100%) and all graphic settings maxed out.

But after I added an internet conection (with AVG 9 Pro) and installed megacity dallas 2005 and a freeware L1011, at a default airport with nothing added at that location (only a freeware aircraft) i was getting 13-20 FPS??? This really annoyed me, becuse my system is capable of running GTAIV on full detail with medium view distance easily.

Ive only got realtek sound control panel, nvidia display control panel and AVG running. I even went to disable AVG but that only upped the FPS by about 5. could the internet be slowing it down that much??? or is the Megacity 2005 scenery interferring with the flightsim, when im not even in that area???

any suggestions about this?

thanks

Uncheck the Megacity scenery from your scenery library without taking it out completely and reboot. I had a similar problem with Mega Scenery NY and I ended taking out completely because it was slowing the entire system down, even when not flying anywhere near NY.

Let us know if it works better after you do it!
