Take a look at this. For numerous people, I can not see their AIM messages. For others, it's fine. Interestingly, every time this happens, McAfee blocks a trojan. Ideas?

You can try to change the color of the text.

I seriously doubt it's as simple as that.DMM200 wrote:You can try to change the color of the text.
You can see the text settings show black on white text, but there's a grey box in the window which indicates otherwise.
Tried disabling McAfee?

Re: AIM - Messages Will Not Show
I wouldn't recommend uninstalling the anti virus. If McAfee is telling him a trojan is being sent, it might well be. I remember that on his first crash, I sent him a message through MSN and that was the last one he saw before it froze up, and I had an antivirus.
What I would recommend is that for all those that did send you messages (and you too Aaron) to scan their hard drives. Maybe there's a worm somewhere and it's trying to infect other computers. Either that or maybe it's a worm that disables messages from random people.
If nothing works, then re-install AIM.

Re: AIM - Messages Will Not Show
Personally, I have never been a fan of McAfee. Whenever I got a new computer that had it pre-installed, I immediately removed it and replaced it with something else. Anything else.
However, even though I don't like it, that doesn't mean you should ignore a warning from it.

So because Aaron couldn't see my messages, but I could see his fine, you think I am one of those people to scan their hard drive?Dennis wrote:What I would recommend is that for all those that did send you messages (and you too Aaron) to scan their hard drives. I'll give it a go, but I've only got a free edition of AVG. Don't believe in anti-virus stuff.

Well, it happened to me and I'm not sure if he had an anti-virus the last time. Plus, it doesn't hurt to scan every now and then.

Update: reinstallation was the only thing that worked. Thanks everyone.
