How to file PIREP times correctly
Hey everyone I've been trying to submit a PIREP for quite sometime now and every time I do I get an email back saying the times weren't filed correctly. I could use some help please

The times that you file need to be local time.
Flights: 700 Hours: 3401:52 Miles: 1,468,840

I do but the email says that they are the wrong times and that the flight time doesn't match up when it actually doesTom Alder wrote:The times that you file need to be local time.

Re: How to file PIREP times correctly
What flight did you fly, and what are the times you are trying to file?

DL7338 and the email said to fly it 5 hours prior to actual time. So I filed 1140 and 1220 But IDK if it's rightRatherBFlyin wrote:What flight did you fly, and what are the times you are trying to file?

Please see the following in our FAQ, which will address your question: http://www.simairline.net/faq.html#5.9
Please post your filed times here and the scheduled times, and the problem will become quite apparent--they are hours apart.

Re: How to file PIREP times correctly
I didn't find that flight on Delta's website, are you referring to the Ft Worth-Tyler flight in the SimAirline timetable?
If so, the local scheduled departure time is 1740, and local scheduled arrival time is 1820. Your filed times should have been close to those times (it is extremely rare for pilots to hit both times exactly, but it does happen).
When you mention being told the times should be five hours prior to actual time, are you referring to the GMT-5 it shows in the timetable? That is simply showing the time difference between local time and Greenwich Mean Time, or Zulu Time.

Re: How to file PIREP times correctly
You are not expected to depart and land on the dot (though it is good pilot skills if you DO manage that). However, read carefully on how you're to file PIREP. Flights are filed on local time. If you are flying say EWR-PEK, then you mark the time you departed from the gate (this would be EST), and when you arrive at PEK, check the time again and write it down (which should be China Standard Time/Beijing Time).
