Freeware FMC for FSX

2009 has been the year of the FMC for me. Granted, I'm still working with "FMC lite" types, but they are growing on me. The payware Friendly Panels FMC 1.5 is great for the default Airbus and Boeing craft in FSX, but now, at last, my default CRJ gets the treatment with this new gauge.

Check THIS out.

Best things about this freeware offering? It'll load FS flightplans just fine; no programming every little waypoint (and that's how I define "FMC lite"), and it even sports a GPS map, so you can actually replace your GPS with this gauge, using the simicon, and retain map functionality. The .pdf tutorial is linear and effective, although I am no-longer what I would call an FMC noob, so your mileage may vary.

Between FMC add-ons and Shockwave 3D lights, the default FSX aircraft are now CLS/Overland in quality, and perhaps even a step between CLS and the Captain Sim 757 in complexity; certainly a step above Overland.

I have FMC add-ons installed in all of the non-default liveries for the default aircraft, so as to keep the default mission functionality as originally designed. The Friendly Panels installer creates a seperate "panel.fmc" folder, and I duplicated this manually with the freeware for my CRJ-700. Over time, I'll probably experiment with putting it in other craft, probably starting with the Q400 & Overland freeware MD-11.

Yup, downloaded that FMC when it came out. Very useful and very FMC n00b-friendly (like me :P )

It's that calculator-looking thingy on the center console, in layman's terms.

For those who are real pilots it is also called Flight Management System. When you talk to alot of pilots and say FMC they look at you like what the heck are you talking about. Then you point to it and they go like oh the FMS.
