In Remembrance of September 11th, 2001....

Post by 737captain » 11 Sep 2009, 02:08

Even though i'm not an online flier, this weekend(actually tomorrow night),i'll be flying from KIAD (Washington-Dulles) to KLAX (Los Angeles),in remembrance of not only 9/11,but of my father(Robert Digney) who died on 11-11-2001,2 short months later...

Not sure which airline yet,or aircraft, but most likely Northwest,Delta or Continental....

Hope there are others thinking like i am....

Whichever airline you choose, best of luck to you. It is a nice idea, and I might fly it myself. Can it have really been 8 years already?

I would do it with UA. After all, it was one of the airlines involved. But I can understand if you want CO, DL, or NW (though I'd rather do it non-stop).

I will be flying it with United.

I only mentioned NW,CO,and DL cause they are part of our VA....

Keep in mind that we do not restrict you to only flying flights for our VA's. You can fly any flight you want to, real or imagined. The only restrictions are that you can only file a PIREP with us for a legitimate flight for one of our VA's, and you can only submit screenshots for our screenshot contest if they are taken during a legitimate flight for one of our VA's.

Most of us keep a separate logbook of our own containing all of our flights, including the ones that we can't file here. :)

A tad bit off topic but the first officer LeRoy Homer, Jr. on United flight 93 that crashed in Pennsylvania grew up right around the corner from my house. Every year my school and community hold a memorial service in his honor and we visit the house that he grew up in. I will also be doing a memorial flight for him.

Memorial flights are a great idea guys, I'd do BOS-LAX with AA and EWR-LAX on UA if I had the time.

I remember that day, living there with my parents working in NYC. Yikes.
