Re: Book or article
Yes, I have "Flying the Big Jets" by BA 747 captain Stanley Stewart. I have the 3rd edition, published in 1992. You can find new and used copies on Amazon, but I can't find any edition newer than that 3rd there. The book has 10 chapters on all aspects of flying, and one large chapter that details a ...

Re: .avi to .wmv conversion failure
H'm, to me it looks like you don't have the right codec to read the sound from the raw camera AVI. Can you play it with media player? I suggest that you browse http://www.videohelp.com/ for more help on this subject. You can also download tools like GSpot to figure out which codecs are needed, and w...

Re: FS9 regulary shuts down pc
Hi Nick,
Could it be something like overheating? The word damage sounds like such a thing, but I need some more text from that blue screen to be sure.
FS9 never shut down my PC, but it did cause a reboot when I had some old nVidia driver. Is yours up to date?
cheers,
Enno

Re: favicon
The icon you are referring to is actually coded into the webpage that is being viewed. Having an official one for SimAirline isn't a bad idea at all. The only problem I can see is deciding what to use as the icon since the SimAirline logo would not scale down to that size very easily. I know. KLM i...

favicon
Until recently every link in my browser toolbar had an icon next to it, except SimAirline.net. I now use a Firefox add-on named Favicon Picker 3 to put a KLM icon next to it, but I'd love to see an official icon there. Is it possible to put these icons on the site? I chose KLM for my link, because I...

Re: Another new pilot
Yes, that´s me, a small world isn´t? :D Where have you been Enno?? Well, when Rainer retired, I started looking for another VA, and found SimAirline.net, and another airline group, which is slightly bigger. I joined both, and flew 2 years for the latter, until I realized that they got a bit too muc...

Re: ICAO code confusion
Sorry about the confusion. I was indeed talking about Bali/Denpasar, and wondered whether it would be useful to put a note about those different ICAO codes in the timetable. FS 9 knows WRRR only, but I have no idea about FS X.
Are there any other airports with ICAO codes that changed since FS 9?

ICAO code confusion
When I tried to create a flight from Jakarta to Denpasar in FS 9, I found that the ICAO code listed in the timetable can not be found in the sim itself, due to the latter being outdated. As far as I can check on the web, the code listed in the timetable is OK, and both codes do refer to the same air...

Re: Turkish airlines crashes near Amsterdam Schiphol airport.
Here's the latest from the press conference that was given today at 2 PM:
http://www.iht.com/articles/2009/03/04/europe/crash.php
I checked the news on other English speaking sites, like BBC and CNN, but they don't mention that the fault was in the RADIO altimeter.

Re: Procedures Manual - Feedback Wanted
Where possible, I use the author's manual as a first reference. Most Posky downloads have one, and if it's not included there, you can also find manuals on their web site, where they are often included with the FDE updates. Another source for manuals is this one: http://www.smartcockpit.com/ And a f...

Re: Sky Team and Star Alliance Timetable Updating Problem
And is there any way around it other than re-downloading the original Timetable from the flights page? When you download the Star Alliance screensaver, it will take care of the updates automatically: http://www.staralliance.com/en/travellers/tools_services/screensaver.html" onclick="window.open(thi...

Re: Thoughts so Far?
What's wrong with downloading Microsoft Excel Viewer, that's freeware isn't it? The filtering doesn't work there either, as that program won't allow edits. Edit: I have just discovered that the IATA/ICAO filter works in OO, maybe change the main filters to use that method? For OO it helps to select...

Re: Project Airbus releases A319 !!!
Is that a problem with the PA Airbus? I remember that another member of management had problems with the performance of PA, so we swithced back to iFDG for Virgin America. Yes, it is a problem, which is also mentioned in the PA forum. When I read their words right, it looks like the FDE designer is...

Re: New Snow Textures
I've never seen effects like this, but I suggest that you try Real Environment Pro for textures. It's freeware, and here's a link to a short description of the package and a download link from AVSIM: http://www.fs2004.co.uk/freeware/utilities/real-environment-pro" onclick="window.open(this.href);ret...

Re: HJG aircraft
I don't think word wrap would affect the cfg file, since that is a purely visual effect to make reading easier (I think). It shouldn't insert any actual line breaks into the document which would interfere with the way FS9 reads it. My roommate's a computer whizz, and confirmed that. Hi Tim, Your ro...

Re: HJG aircraft
Success ENNO, the secret was in the cfg file, as you said had to change the sequence from XX to 0 and not 00. Thank you my friend. Best regards, Nick Great! BTW, I found another error in my 707. When it sits on the platform the whole aircraft tilts to the right. Do you have the same in your version...

Nick, I got the HJG PanAm 707-320B from our own site here http://www.simairline.net/panamerican/703.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and installed the model and textures according to the instructions, changing the XX to 0 (not 00). The aircraft shows up in my menu right away, so i...

Re: HJG aircraft
Enno, I have done all that. I have amended the aircraft cfg as per instructions. Added the textures list and also amended the XX to 00, then also tried it with 01...to no luck I see. Since I'm still in the air right now, flying from Seoul to Amsterdam, I can't test things right now, but when I land...
