3 May 2006
To All Of Our Pilots,

After eighteen months of design work and programming, our new roster system finally came online this past month, in time for our sixth anniversary of operations. A few notes about certain aspects of the system that may be unclear at this time:
-PIREPs do not appear in your logbook until I approve them. You can see how many such PIREPs there are through the Control Center. In the future, you'll be able to see which PIREPs have not yet been approved.
-When refiling a PIREP, you should refile through the Control Center. The Control Center has the old PIREP information and a link to replace the old one with the corrected version.

I apologize for the two programming mistakes this past month that may have created problems for you. The first resulted in PIREPs for new pilots being credited to the wrong pilots. The second, more serious, resulted in PIREPs having incorrect flight times for five days of the month. Thanks goes to Dan Wheeler for editing the programming to correct the problem. Acknowledging that these problems are the fault of management, virtual airline expansion to include will require only goal 1, that all critical management positions be filled, until our next virtual airline, Thai, is added. At this time, we are currently hiring for three Fleet Manager positions: Air Canada, Copa, and Thai.

Contributions Update
SimAirline.net still needs $601.91 to fulfill its projected budget for the year. Full information on our 2006 budget and how to contribute can be found here.

Volunteers Needed in Colorado
As you may know, SimAirline.net is planning on participating in this year's International Flightsim Conventions in Birmingham, England and Denver, CO. The Denver convention will take place on 1-2 July, so we need volunteers to help there. If you're interested and available, please contact me at once.

Discontinued Flights Overhaul
Following the recent purchase of several old British Airways, Delta, and Northwest timetables, we have been adding and upgrading our Discontinued Flights for these virtual airlines. Some highlights include:
-British Airways: additional worldwide destinations, especially in Asia; more U.K. destinations and intra-U.K. flights
-Delta: more flights to Asia; intra-California routes from Los Angeles; more mainline flights from Dallas/Ft. Worth
-Northwest: additional Asia routes; more mainline flights from Milwaukee

Management Hiring Update
We are still hiring for Fleet Manager positions. We are currently in need of Fleet Managers for Air Canada, Copa, and Thai. We are also hiring for a new, Interim Fleet Manager position, which is more of a part-time position, and only needed when there are vacancies. As always, we are hiring for Aircraft and Scenery Developers as well.

Virtual Airline of the Month - Air Canada Virtual
This month's featured virtual airline is Air Canada Virtual, our second largest Star Alliance virtual airline. More information on Air Canada Virtual, including selected screenshots, can be found here.

Thank you very much for your patience this past month as we transitioned to our new roster system. While we're still experiencing growing pains as a result of the process, I hope you'll agree that the benefits were well worth the effort. Thank you as always for flying for SimAirline.net.
