1 February 2006
To All Of Our Pilots,

We did not meet our monthly goals for January (2005 goals), but pilots did approve monthly goals for 2006 with a 94% vote in favor. Therefore, the monthly goals for the remainder of the year will be as follows:

-All management positions must be filled
AND EITHER
-Active pilots fly an average of 18 hours per month
OR
-Retention reaches 80%, to increase by 0.5% for each VA added

In light of the recently announced Jet Airways-Air Sahara merger, we have changed the expansion order to place Frontier Airlines first and Jet Airways second for 2006 airlines. Thai and Pan American will still be added before those.

Our fundraising efforts continue, and need help from you to help ensure our continued success this year. Seven pilots have contributed $113.94 of the estimated $1000 we need for this year. You can learn more about how to help, and why we need such financial support, here.

Online ATC Training Program in Full Swing
Our online ATC training program resumed earlier this month. Sessions are biweekly, with the next on 11 February. The training program will instruct pilots on how to fly with online ATC to VATSIM standards, with the eventual goal of resuming SimAirline.net's participation in fly-ins and other online events. More information is available here.

Management Hiring
SimAirline.net is currently hiring for seven management positions: Aircraft Developer, AI Traffic Manager, ANA Fleet Manager, Icelandair Fleet Manager, Korean Air Fleet Manager, Scenery Developer, and Varig Fleet Manager. The two Fleet Manager positions are required before we will expand to include Thai Virtual. If you are interested in any of these positions, you can learn more here.

Terminal Maps Under Expansion
At the end of 2005, 91 of our 1047 destinations had terminal maps available for them. By the end of this month, that number should increase to 126. Although this seems like a small amount, three-quarters of destinations in SimAirline.net flights last year were from these airports.

Sound Packages Added
Several sound packages were added to our aircraft downloads in January, with more to come later this month. Packages are matched based on the aircraft type and specific engine model.

Virtual Airline of the Month - Concorde Virtual
This month's featured virtual airline is Concorde Virtual, the first virtual airline in the world to be based on a single aircraft type's entire scheduled operations. More information on Concorde Virtual, including selected screenshots, can be found here.

World Tour - Boeing
This month's World Tour will fly a round-the-world route entirely on Boeing aircraft.

We expect to be able to open our new roster system in the next few months, which has been our leading goal over the last year. I expect you'll find it easy and enjoyable to use, and continue to provide SimAirline.net as the home of the world's virtual airlines of choice.
