3 March 2005
To All Of Our Pilots,
This past month, we added Virtual
British Airways to our operations as our twentieth virtual airline
and final expansion of our 2004 Operations Plan. Unfortunately, we were
unable to meet all of our monthly goals for February, falling short in
two categories, Hours/Active Pilot and the Incorrect: Correct PIREP Ratio.
However, we did set two new organization records this past month: Total
Pilots and Concorde PIREPs.
German Virtual Airline Expansion Revised
We recently decided to alter our 2005
Operations Plan slightly. Our upcoming virtual airline expansion in
Germany has been changed from LTU International Airways to Air
Berlin, the third largest low-cost carrier in Europe. We feel that
Air Berlin represents a more logical fit for SimAirline.net than LTU based
on its growth prospects and route structure, which also includes hubs in
Austria and Spain.
Midway Virtual Expands to Include Chicago
Routes
As you may know, Midway Airlines was based
at Chicago Midway before moving to Raleigh/Durham in 1995. We were recently
available to obtain a late 1994 Midway timetable when they were based in
Chicago, so Midway Virtual will be expanding to incorporate those routes
into its operations. This expansion will also allow additional Fokker 100
flights.
Training Sessions to Begin
Brandon Jones, our new Training Manager,
will lead a series of training sessions through the Message
Boards designed to help improve pilots' flying abilities and realism
level. The end goal is for pilots to be able to eventually be able to fly
online using the various ATC organizations and in online SimAirline.net
events. The first session, focused on basic instrumention, will be available
within the next few days.
New: Featured Destination of the Week
This month we will be adding a new feature
to SimAirline.net: Featured Destination of the Week. Each member of our
management team will select unique destinations and provide information
about SimAirline.net's service to that airport as well as interesting features
of flying to/from there. These will be found in our Message
Boards starting on 7 March.
New Nagoya Airport Opens
Nagoya's new airport, Central Japan International
Airport, opened on February 17. Because the airport is not in FS2004, we
will be offering a scenery for download through our site within the next
few days.
Next month we'll be celebrating our fifth
complete year of virtual airline operations. A great deal of credit goes
to our management team that has helped make it possible, and most importantly,
you, our dedicated pilots. Thank you for helping make us the great organization
we are today.
