1 April 2003
To All Of Our Pilots,

March was yet another excellent month for us. We set new highs in total pilots, applications, new pilots, flying pilots, and PIREPs. Our Delta addition was responsible for much of the growth, although at some expense to our other virtual airlines.

Zurich Host City for Second Fly-In
After a successful first fly-in in Newark on March 15, SimAirline.net will have its second at Zurich-Kloten Airport on April 12. Details are available here. Our third fly-in has not yet been scheduled, but it will take place in the U.S.

More Management Still Needed
Because of some unexpected resignations in March, we need to fill three management positions, Delta Fleet Manager, Scenery Manager, and Virgin Fleet Manager. If you are interested in any of these positions, please go here.

Delta Surges to Become Most Popular Virtual Airline
Delta Virtual, our recently added virtual airline, is now our most popular. Delta had the most operated flights during March, with over a quarter of our total flights. In addition, Delta's operated flights were the most of a single airline ever (302), narrowly beating Continental's July 2002 total.

Real-Life Pilot Meetings in Planning
SimAirline.net is planning real-life pilot meetings to take place at pilots' local airports. However, before we can do this, we need to have several pilots volunteer to be regional coordinators for their city. Information for those interested in being a regional coordinator is located here.

Virgin Eyes Expansion to U.S. Market
Sir Richard Branson, owner of Virgin Enterprises, is attempting to launch a new airline, called either Virgin America or Virgin USA by the end of the year. The airline would be similar in operations to Virgin Blue and Virgin Express, and would operate as a low-cost carrier. Should Virgin enter the U.S. domestic market, their operations would be added to Virgin International Airways.

Fourth Pilot Roster Page Added
Because of the recent growth at SimAirline.net, pilot numbers exceeded 300 for the first time, requiring the addition of a fourth roster page.

Possible New Livery for Northwest
Northwest Airlines will be announcing a new livery within the next few days. It is not yet clear if it will be a replacement for the current livery, or what it will look like. If there is a new livery, Northwest Virtual will refrain from updating the liveries, logos, and aircraft available on its site for at least several months.

With our continued success, I'm pleased to begin our fourth year of operations. Let's make this year our best one yet.
